Every year from 23 to 30 September, the European Week of Sport encourages millions of people across Europe and beyond to be more active and have healthier lifestyles.
This year the focus is on inclusion, healthy digital habits, mental health and well-being.
Opening ceremony
The dynamic and sustainable city of Copenhagen hosted and celebrated the 10th anniversary opening of the European Week of Sport. This is celebration of a decade of energy, enthusiasm and empowerment through sport and physical activity.
This year’s opening took place in the innovative GAME Streetmekka urban street culture centre.
Focuses this year
The 2025 European Week of Sport aims to encourage everyone to take part in activities and hobbies that boost self-esteem, improve health and foster a sense of belonging across generations and sectors.
By emphasising the importance of physical activity, it shows the connection to healthy digital habits and mental well-being.
About the Week
The European Week of Sport has grown into one of the EU’s most important sports awareness campaigns, inspiring millions to embrace healthy, active lifestyles.
Since 2015, the Week has held over 353,000 events for 103 million people across 42 countries and regions.
