#BeActive EU Sport Awards finalists – Peace

The Sport Zajedno initiative fosters reconciliation, dialogue and participation in the Western Balkans through sport events.

In communities divided by ethnicity, gender and social background, the project creates spaces where young people can meet, be active, play sport, and most importantly, build trust.

The UNITE19 initiative transforms grief into action, uniting thousands of sport fans against violence. 

They organised a 10km race on the National Sport Fan Day, in memory of Alkis Kampanos, a 19-year-old killed simply for supporting the "wrong" team, bringing together participants of all ages, proudly wearing the shirt of the club they love and the number 19.

The Run4Unity (R4U) initiative empowers Europe’s teenagers to become active citizens of a more united world.

They organise races across borders where teenagers pass a virtual baton across time zones, allowing participants to share and be enriched by each other's heritage.
