Harmonising sports statistics – how and why: new reports on EU-wide methods published
The reports present major advancements in creating a unified framework for sports data collection and analysis.
Several reports on sport statistics describe a newly agreed EU-wide method for collecting sports statistics data.
They also provide insights into the socio-economic value of sport, along with suggestions for measuring physical activity in the EU in a harmonised way.
Supporting sports policy makers
The publications come from a 3-year joint project between the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), Eurostat and the European Commission alongside national experts and EU country representatives.
They offer recommendations to national policy makers on the economic and social value of sport, wellbeing, and sport participation data measurement methods.
In addition, the project includes a pan-European study on the economic impact of sport, published by Eurostat.
