#BeInclusive EU Sport Awards 2022: finalists announced!

97 amazing projects and individuals were part of the competition launched in 2022.

The #BeInclusive EU Sport Awards 2022 aim to reward and showcase the best projects that promote social inclusion through sport.

9 finalists across three categories will compete for the grand prize delivered in 2023.

Breaking barriers in sport

This category features projects that show inspiration, giving positive examples of empowerment and role models from groups with fewer opportunities.

The finalists are

  • Consorci Sanitari De Terrassa, Spain: Futsal as a therapeutic tool and social inclusion mechanism for patients in mental health centres
  • Free Movement Skateboarding, Greece: Free Movement Skateboarding for the well-being, empowerment and social cohesion for Athenian youth through skateboarding
  • Kaakkois-Suomen Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy, Finnland: Villages on the Move GO

Promoting gender equality in sport “Be Equal”

This category rewards projects promoting the empowerment and participation of women and girls in sport.

The finalists are

  • ADIDAS AG, Germany: adidas Breaking Barriers Project
  • Fifty Fifty, France: Programmes of reconstruction through sport for women victims of violence
  • Kajak Klub Zlatorog, Slovenia: PaddlePWR-GirlPWR (PPGP)

Sport for peace

This category showcases projects using sport as a vehicle to promote peace and European values.

The finalists are

  • Comite Olimpico De Portugal, Portugal: Viver o Desporto - Abraçar o Futuro (Live Sport - Embrace the Future)
  • Stichting War Child, Netherlands: TeamUp
  • Youth Line Portugal, Portugal: Sports as a tool for better integration of Ukrainian refugees in a new (temporary) home – community-building activities in Portugal

Winners to be announced in May

Commissioner Mariya Gabriel will announce the winner for each category during the #BeInclusive EU Sport Awards ceremony, which will take place on 2 May 2023 in Stockholm, Sweden, as part of the EU Sport Forum.
