Boost your summer energy: #BeActive and refresh your mind
Physical activity isn’t just for your body. It can also boost your mood and mental well-being. It’s time to put your phone down and make sport part of your daily life!

Staying physically active all-year round is important for our physical and mental health.
Digital devices keep us connected, well informed and entertain us. But let’s face it: the scroll trap is real! We can spend endless hours scrolling, but this does no favours to us – physically or mentally.
This summer is the perfect time to #BeActive and plan more “screen free” time.
Whether it’s a few stretches, a walk or a full workout session, moving your body can make you feel better inside and out. It can do wonders for your mood, especially if shared with family, friends or community.
And what better time for it than in 2025 – the 10th anniversary of the European Week of Sport!
Don’t forget: our digital devices can be powerful tools that can support a more active lifestyle. How? Read below for inspiration.
More active summer days
Summer is the perfect time of the year to
- switch from driving to cycling or walking. Use your device to find a safe cycling or walking route. And if you don’t own a bicycle most cities offer affordable short-term rentals
- increase your step count by choosing a bus, tram or metro stop further away
- take the stairs instead of using the elevator or escalator when going out or at work
- walk to a local street market to buy fresh fruit and vegetables – they will taste better when you’ve earned them
- walk to the nearest park to cool off from summer heat. Nature’s air conditioning is free and refreshing!
More “screen free” time
As a community we can accomplish more than we can alone. Use your phone to connect with people.
You can
- invite your family or friends for a walk or hike in the park or in the forest
- join a local sport activity or offer to volunteer to organise one
- organise a gathering in your local community and encourage the older generation to teach the younger generation traditional games
- call your friends and find a new sport to try together. Think about skating, street racket, dance or lawn bowling.
Less scrolling. More living!
Stay connected
