Amazing competition, incredible talents

The Olympics have always celebrated sport at its highest level.

Around 10 500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees will gather in Paris to compete in 329 events across 32 sports, including new additions like break-dance, surfing, and climbing — all united in the name of sport!

EU and Olympic values

The EU and the Olympics have many things in common. Love for sports is just the beginning.

This year's games shine a spotlight on sustainability, equality, and inclusion, reflecting the core values of the EU.

When practising regular physical activity, people can appreciate endless benefits- from increased health to an enhanced sense of belonging, sport builds a strong sense of self. It also creates bridges between individuals and the community.

European Week of Sport and the Olympic Day

Did you know the Olympic Games and the European Week of Sport share a special connection? The first Olympic Day was celebrated on 23 June 1948.

23 June 2015 marked the announcement that France would host the 2024 Olympics. And the #BeActive yearly campaign is always launched on this date building towards the European Week of Sport in September.

Perfect timing for all sports lovers to follow the Olympics and to engage themselves in many activities offered by the European Week of Sport!
