Health-enhancing physical activity in the European Union – Report and country factsheets 2024
These present the state of play on the implementation of the Council Recommendation on HEPA across sectors as of October 2024.
The Health-enhancing Physical Activity (HEPA) in the European Union 2024 report and the European Union Physical Activity country factsheets have been published recently.
The reports are the product of the European Commission's and the World Health Organisation’s Regional Office for Europe collaboration on supporting Member States for implementing the Council Recommendation on promoting HEPA across sectors.
The report provides aggregated information collected on 23 indicators that monitor implementation of the European Union Physical Activity Guidelines. An overall improvement in implementation is observed between 2015 and 2024. The average proportions of the 23 indicators that were achieved by Member States were
- 64.7% in 2015
- 74.5% in 2018
- 76.5% in 2021
- 81.8% in 2024
