Jason, Ireen and Oliver are three exceptional athletes who truly embody the shared core values of the EU and Olympic Games —  sustainability, education, solidarity, and equality.

Together, they will champion our campaign messages, inspiring everyone to #BeActive!

Jason Smyth (Ireland)

Jason Smyth is a legendary figure in paralympic athletics, renowned for his speed and consistency.

In his 18-year career, he dominated the T13 100m and 200m events, winning 21 gold medals, including six from the Paralympic Games.

Known as the fastest Paralympian in history, Smyth remains unbeaten in every major Paralympic championship.

He retired in 2023, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and inspiration for athletes worldwide.

Ireen Wüst (the Netherlands)

Ireen Wüst competed in five Olympic Games (Torino, Vancouver, Sochi, Pyeongchang, and Beijing), winning six individual gold medals.

Her shift from the ice skating to a professional role at NOC*NSF showcases her commitment to sports.

As an expert in performance behaviour and mental health, Wüst leverages her vast experience to support and guide current and future athletes.

Oliver Lušić (Croatia)

Oliver Lusić stands out for his achievements as a handball player and his contributions to the deaf sports community.

As a member of the Croatian deaf national handball team, Lusić has earned one bronze and four gold Deaflympic medals. He also competes among Croatia's top hearing players and was part of the Croatian junior national team.

Beyond sports, Lusić is the president of the Croatian Deaf Sports Association and contributes to the national council for sports in Croatia's parliament.
