Sport Info Day 2021: event on 23-24 March

New Erasmus+ Sport Actions

The 2021 Sport Info Day took place on 23-24 March, with a record attendance eager to hear about new features of Erasmus+ Sports Actions. Commissioner Mariya Gabriel opened the online event. The goal of the event was to inform potential applicants about the future Erasmus + programme, the political context, its simplification and funding opportunities in 2021.

Hosted by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency, the event presented the way the new Erasmus+ Sport Actions will act as a bridge between the need for more sport and the desire of individuals and organisations to achieve their sporting objectives.

Three key new features

Commissioner Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth presented the 3 key new features of Erasmus+ Sport actions:

  1. A larger budget of EUR 470 million for the 2021-2027, period, compared to EUR 265 million in the previous period.
  2. Greater flexibility, allowing finance for projects from as little as EUR 30,000, supporting all applicants to find their ideal scale.
  3. The possibility of new opportunities such as more openness to Partner Countries.

Good EP Co-operation

Marc Tarabella, MEP, chair of the Sport Group of the European Parliament, underlined the importance of Erasmus+ for the development of the European dimension of sport. "The European Parliament is committed to reinforcing its cooperation with the sport actors", he said.

Record attendance

With a record 1 530 registered attendees, the event was a great success in spite of its new online configuration. Many more watched the proceedings via web and social media video streams.

Participants to find potential project partners took advantage of the popular networking session. In total, 1 000 simultaneous connections were registered over the two days of the event.
