The European Week of Sport in Moldova – an example of good communication

The European Week of Sport 2022 brought to light outstanding efforts to promote the #BeActive campaign in all corners of the world. The Republic of Moldova was among the best examples.

The Eastern European country, which was recently awarded EU candidate status, demonstrated once again its commitment to the wellbeing of its citizens.

For this edition of the #BeActive campaign, Moldova aimed at expanding and spreading the message of the value, importance, and fun of playing sports or physical activity of any kind.

It did so with a combination of offline events and online communication, under the slogan “It takes little to #BeActive!”

Offline events

EU Information Centres in Moldova joined the efforts to promote the benefits of sport and physical activity.

They reported over 200 participants taking part in many different activities, ranging from a short-distance marathon and volleyball matches to horse racing and table tennis.

Online communication

The Moldavian #BeActive coordinator launched a dedicated newsletter on the European Week of Sport, its ambassadors’ work and its activities.

The communication strategy also included a press release and a series of videos featuring athletes and influencers from the country.

This material helped amplify the campaign’s positive message via the “Europe Café” social media platforms and the website of the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova.
