Description of pledge activities

The Salesianos Cruces School will be a place where opportunities for an active and healthy lifestyle are available for the whole educational community.

For this purpose, we are going to arrange a variety of playful, healthy and dynamic activities to all the members of the educational community (including students, families, teachers and the rest of staff).  Everyone should take part, either in their curricular or spare time.

We deeply believe that our objectives and goals should focus on activities to promote active and healthy habits and on the transmission of active and healthy life values within our educational system.

To achieve our goal, we will organise the following activities

  1. European School Sport Day: this day will be dedicated to practice different activities such as games for the little children and activities of local sports, sokatira (tug of war), cob picking, dragging for the older ones. At the end of the activity, we will organise a joint zumba session All students will be involved.
  2. San Silvestre run on 23 December: two races to celebrate the end of the year, one outside the centre, about 2 km, for those who would like to run more competitively, and a second more playful and quiet one inside the centre.
  3. Day without elevators: using the stairs of the school to make a small competition between classes. Five representatives from each class run a route with many stairs and their times are added up. The fastest class will win.
  4. EUROPEAN MILLE together with the School Olympics. Days dedicated to the Olympics in honour of María Auxiliadora (Mary, Help of Christians). The whole school participates in different "Olympic tests", jumps, races, throwing competitions, in order to celebrate our main event in an active and healthy way. As a final event, the traditional "marathon" is held, with a massive participation of our students.
  5. Participation of the students in different popular races. They are introduced to several popular races held in nearby towns and are encouraged to attend.

In addition to the events, we will organise 2 lectures on healthy lifestyle for students named Talk on sports and women and Talk on nutrition.

We will also organise two activities for families

  • Participation in the school marathon
  • Participation alongside their children in the popular races proposed by the school

Expected measurable outcome

  • 80% of students should take part in some of the proposed activities
  • 100% of students should take part in the formation activities
  • 30% of the teaching and school staff should take part in the different events
  • 10% of the families should take part in some of the different activities or events
  • More than 50% of the students should carry out at least one hour of physical activity a day, which is the recommendation of the WHO
