The municipality of De Pinte has a 2020-2024 policy which aims at becoming one of the top 3 cities of Flanders by implementing sustainable development goals.

De Pinte plans to make its sport infrastructure more available to its local community by enhancing accessibility as well as increasing sustainability and energy efficiency.

Its activities include

  • Creating a network of cycling paths connecting local areas and local parks to make local commuting by bike easier
  • Transforming paved playgrounds at schools into natural publicly accessible playgrounds
  • Embedding renewable energy in general, and more specifically investing in LED lighting so that sport infrastructure can be more sustainable

Expected measurable outcome

  • Developing at least 3 public healthy spaces in cooperation with inhabitants
  • 3 paved school playgrounds turned into into green, natural public playgrounds
  • 5 buildings upgraded with LED lighting (2 sport centres and 3 indoor sport halls)
