Description
The European Football for Development Network will promote healthy lifestyles across all generations with three activities.
Scoring for Health
Scoring for Health encourages children age 7-14, to adopt a healthy lifestyle and gain awareness of the value of healthy eating and exercise. The activity will focus on eating habits and physical exercise at schools in order to provide information and encourage healthy lifestyles.
Alongside this is the Healthy Football League, where schools compete against each other to become the healthiest school in their city. A European awareness campaign runs alongside this, using the power of 9 major football clubs to spread the message.
Walking Football
Walking Football delivers inclusive football to people over the age of 50 years old, getting them more active and increasing their social inclusion levels.
The project is developing Walking Football as a sustainable sport in Europe to create long-term cooperation and league structure to play this slower, age inclusive, version of football.
The project also trains staff members to deliver such sessions, and has developed a free use guide and online training in this area. There have also been international match-days with thousands of participants.
Active Fans
Active Fans project brings together practitioners from 6 countries to address health issues and weight management of men and women that are 35 and older.
The Healthy Football League is the ultimate clash of European football clubs as fans compete for bragging rights in a series of physical challenges, and through use of a digital platform encourage rivals to keep up.
Turning the rivalry between fans into healthy competition, the programme gets people moving more through weekly physical activities, fan challenges and an information campaign.
