Description of the Pledge

The Decathlon’s foundation will actively work on opening opportunities for people to participate in sport activities and to increase awareness on the importance of sports for the social, educational and development of youth.

The aim of this pledge is to bring together associations/charities and the corporate world in order to support and integrate through sport

  • young people living in sensitive areas
  • disabled people
  • elderly people
  • homeless people
  • sick and/or hospitalized people
  • refugees
  • people in rehabilitation

Through the HealthyLifestyle4All initiative, the Decathlon’s foundation will promote a healthy lifestyle by

  • encouraging and promoting projects that allow people to feel good while being active and to develop harmonious relationships while protecting the natural environment
  • financing sustainable investment expenses (renovating a sports ground, sports equipment, training for sports careers, etc.)
  • organising events such as the “Foundation Day”, which will take place in June every year with Decathlon’s site and local charities

Decathlon Foundation’s goal is to enable willing teammates to be involved in a solidarity project and offer as many people as possible the chance to thrive thanks to sport and its values by combining Sport, Health, Education and Employability. It also creates ties between associations/ charities and the corporate world in supporting young people.

Since the creation of the Decathlon Foundation, nearly 747 projects have been launched, including 609 in Europe for more than 485 000 beneficiaries.  Almost 4,000 beneficiaries have had professional experience at Decathlon or elsewhere (especially in associations).

Expected measureable outcome

  • By 31 December 2023, to have enabled at least 10,000 people in situations of exclusion to integrate into society through sport, by enabling them to practice sport regularly and to be healthier.
  • Organize and promote 'Foundation Days' in all European countries where Decathlon is present to enable people in vulnerable situations to practice sport and have the opportunity to discover different jobs to better integrate into society.
