Description of pledge activities

UEFA pledges to implement a health and well-being policy that will draw on the support of its 55 member associations, in particular the coaches of their national men’s and women’s teams, to increase awareness of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle across Europe.

The programme will use the extensive reach of both UEFA and national association digital channels to disseminate educational messages relating to physical activity, nutrition, substance abuse and mental health.

UEFA will mark the European week of sports 2021 by launching the programme together with five pilot associations - Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland and Slovenia. The initiative will be extended to all remaining associations from December 2021 to June 2022.

Expected measurable outcome

To assess the programme’s impact, UEFA will track

  • the number of national associations that integrate the programme into their own activities
  • the number of views of short videos shared on social media
  • the level of awareness among adolescents on the importance of healthy, active lifestyles
