European Week of Sport 2024: celebrating a collective success

The European Week of Sport has kicked off and there is still time for you to #BeActive!

Grand opening in Budapest

The opening ceremony of the European Week of Sport 2024 took place on 23 September at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary.

Georg Häusler, Director for Culture, Creativity and Sport at the European Commission, participated in the event with our EU Olympic and Paralympic Ambassadors.

Mirna Jukić-Berger, Urška Žolnir Jugovar, Oliver Lušić, Dmitrijs Miļkevičs, Jason Smyth, Jüri-Mikk Udam and #BeActive ambassador Jorge Pina brought their enthusiasm, gave us some tips with us on how to stay  motivated to do sport everyday. They also took part in the LED run.

If you missed this amazing event, you can check our social media accounts on FacebookInstagram, and X. You will find there the highlights of the ceremony.

Don’t forget to be active

It is your turn to move!

For the European Week of Sport, thousands of events are still taking place across Europe and beyond. Check the events map, find the closest activity, prepare your gear, and be part of the fun.

Events have been organised in 39 countries. This means that wherever you are, #BeActive is a reminder that everyone has access to a more active lifestyle.

Education, outdoor activities, sports and fitness clubs: this week we all had a chance to invite friends and family to enjoy sports and create new memories together!

Let’s enjoy sports and get moving all year round.
