Involving the youth!

Meet ENGSO Youth, a partner of the European Week of Sport that involves young people in all their activities and initiatives.

The European Year of Youth 2022 aims to shine a light on the impact young people have in shaping modern societies through their vision and talent. Many organisations across Europe are placing young generations at the core of their activities and initiatives.

ENGSO Youth fully embraces this notion, by engaging with the young community and giving them a real say in sports.

This long-time supporter of the European Week of Sport promotes and supports grassroots sport in Europe by keeping young people up to date on European sport policy developments and fighting for youth rights within the European sport movement.

ENGSO Youth played an active role earlier this year at the EU Sport Forum in Lille (France).

Under the theme of “European Sport: fair, inclusive and fit for a sustainable future”, the forum highlighted the key principles of the European Sport Model. As part of this model, the good governance, protection and promotion of well-being was part of the debate, with a particular focus on youth.

More recently, ENGSO Youth co-organised an event called "#BeActive for Sport Integrity" in partnership with The European Lotteries. This gathering focused on young people and their potential to trigger a positive change by fostering integrity within the European sports sector.

The #BeActive spirit is for all, and young people are at the heart of the #BeActive mission. The European Week of Sport campaign is inspired by youth, especially this year, and we are trying to engage all key stakeholders in the #BeActive dialogues.

To quote ENGSO Youth Chair Ugné Chmeliauskaité:

"Cooperation and collaboration is a must, working together and including stakeholders from all levels – from local sport clubs and national federations to sports managers and professional athletes".
