Meet the 2024 #BeActive Awards finalists – Workplace
Finalists in the ‘Workplace’ category of the #BeActive Awards are encouraging employees to be more active. They create active work environment and promote teamwork through sports.
The 3 finalists in the ‘Workplace’ category of the annual #BeActive Sport Awards give true insight into how sport can lead to a better working environment and that being active is possible even while working.
Meet the finalists in the Workplace category
Métropole de Lyon, France
Lyon Metropole committed to the physical and mental well-being of its employees through Physical and wellness balance Programme for the Staff of Lyon Metropole (PEPS). This program supports all staff members to access physical and wellness activities directly at their workplace during lunch breaks or at the end of the day.
PEPS offers two options
- regular weekly sessions, at main sites
- on-demand sessions, typically held once a month, out of the main sites
This approach significantly enhances employee well-being. 55% of participants reports health improvements due to their involvement in PEPS, showing that sport is a rewarding way to stay active.
The programme creates new relationships among employees from various departments, job roles, socio-professional categories, genders, and physical conditions. Inclusion and accessibility are top priorities and Lyon Metropole has a team of certified coaches specialised in adaptive physical activity.
Association sportive de la Banque de France, France
Bank of France SPAABF project demonstrates a multifaceted and innovative approach to integrate sports and physical activities into the workplace culture for health, well-being and performance. A wide range of sports and physical activities have been proposed. These include 40 sports sections with +60 sports for all employees.
Banque de France’s commitment to promoting an active lifestyle goes beyond traditional sports (e.g. active breaks, nudges to encourage the use of stairs and mobility programmes to encourage cycling to work).
Digital tools and online programmes have been introduced to support employees who telework, and several digital steps challenges are organised. These initiatives are designed to be inclusive and accessible to diverse groups at the workplace.
Some employees even took part in the European and World Company Sport Games, while the Bank was involved in Erasmus+ projects and European Week of Sport (EWoS) events, ensuring that the EWoS is truly event for everyone, regardless of age or ability.
Olympiazentrum Vorarlberg GmbH, Austria
The #MAshapedbyOZvorarlberg project offers opportunities for physical activity by employees for employees.
These include weekly and monthly programmes such as activities before and after work and during lunch breaks, all of which are open to all employees, regardless of age or ability.
Team events cover a wide range of activities. They can be anything from less athletic activities to climbing a mountain together. This has included low-threshold guided tours and hikes for employees and their families.
Apart from physical activity, the focus is on socialising, well-being, and having fun together. The project aims to make physical activity appealing and tailored to different target groups, considering the wishes of the employees.
